Wednesday Word for March 9th
One morning a few weeks ago I was on facebook and noticed that my son, Chad, had typed this:
‘For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever is a good person, shall not perish but have everlasting life?’ I don’t think so. Just doing good deeds will not get you there. ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.’
When I asked him what the story behind this was, Chad's response was "I had just listened to Andy Stanley and in his message he brought out a lot of good points; such as this!"
We are saved my His grace, not works. Does that mean that once saved we can do anything we want or from now on life will be easy? No, I'm afraid not. When Jesus lives in our heart, we trust Him to guide us through whatever storm we face. As a Christian, one should not want to stray from God, but unfortunately, we are still sinners and will do so. But the difference is...we are forgiven by the sacrifice of God's son, Jesus Christ and His tremendous love for us. Keep doing the good deeds, but do so with the love of Jesus in your heart.
